How to change your SPAM FILTER settings on G4 Email Server?
Our Spam Blocker feature allows you to control spam filtering for
incoming emails, and every email account has option for individual
setting. You can adjust this by accessing our webmail portal to adjust
at a level you are comfortable. Spam Filtering automatically
stores email that is suspected to be spam in your 'held' folder for 2
weeks (if HOLD feature is selected). You can go to your 'held' folder
to release messages wrongly identified as spam.
As of May 11th 2006, all user accounts have a Spam Filter Rate of 5. If you
are still receiving too much spam, you can try to lower this rate.
Directions to spam settings:
- Click on OPTIONS on the left.

- Select SPAM CONTROL (in middle of screen).

- Make sure SPAM FILTERING is ON.
- Click on ADVANCED (next to spam filtering).

- You will see 3 different settings:
Hold, Bounce, and Vanish. Each of these can be set a rating between 1 through 25, 1 being the most aggresive.
Hold means the message is kept for 2 weeks, in which time you can view the message(s) and choose to receive specific messages.
Bounce means send a message back to the sender, letting them know you didn't get it.
Vanish means throw the message away, sender doesn't know you didn't get it.
You most likely should try different settings to find the best setting for your needs.
- Don't forget to click on SAVE when you are done.

- At this point, you have enabled your spam filtering.
Besides the Spam Filtering, we also have another option called FRIENDS.
If this feature is turned on, only people can send you email is the
ones you define within your FRIENDS email list (Kids Safe mode), or a
request for confirmation is sent back to any unknown sender and the
message will be stored in your 'pending' folder. The message is put in
your Inbox when the sender confirms. You can also set this option up in
the same Spam Control section.
